We also take equity interests in special purpose entities (“SPEs”) to meet various business planning needs.
SMC’s predecessor, DIRS, was formed in 1994 to provide commercial domicile management and registered agent services to clients, including many Fortune 500 companies, of its affiliated law firm, The Stewart Law Firm, with offices in Delaware and Nevada. The affiliated law firm has a national practice focusing on the use of SPEs to achieve a variety of tax and business planning goals. It became apparent that there was a need for SMC’s services beyond that of the clients of its affiliated law firm, so SMC was created to expand its service offerings to the broader global market.
